The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC) grant program makes federal funds available to states, U.S. territories, federally recognized tribal governments, and local governments for hazard mitigation activities. It does so by recognizing the need to upgrade and modernize the nation’s infrastructure against the growing risks to communities and the need for natural hazard risk mitigation activities that promote resilience with respect to natural hazards. $1B total is available.

The New York State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services (DHSES) is pleased to announce the availability of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Fiscal Year 2024 & 2025 Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC) funding opportunity. Subapplications are due, submitted within FEMAGO (FEMAGO – Login), no later than May 22nd, 2026.

CT DEMHS is pleased to announce that the application period is now open for the Fiscal Year (FY) 2024/2025 BRIC grant program under the FEMA Hazard Mitigation Assistance Program. All sub-applications must be submitted to the State via the FEMA GO system no later than July 1, 2026. DEMHS will host weekly office hours via Microsoft Teams for application assistance. The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) is accepting applications for the next round of the DEEP Climate Resilience Fund (DCRF). DEEP is making available up to $44 million in state and federal funds to support planning, project advancement, and construction to help Connecticut’s communities build resilience to extreme weather. The current Notice of Funding Opportunity opens the next application period for Planning (resilience planning) and Advancement (project design) and introduces a Deployment (project implementation) category that includes an expanded matching funds program and a Request for Proposals for the construction of energy resilience infrastructure.

Created in 2014 by the National Park Service (NPS), the Land and Water Conservation Fund – Outdoor Recreation Legacy Partnership program (LWCF-ORLP) Program is a nationally competitive grant program wherein states (in partnership with municipalities; Native American Tribes and Tribal Governments) can submit proposals for land acquisitions or improvements that will provide or significantly improve recreational opportunities in qualifying urban areas. The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (CT DEEP) is the State’s lead agency for the program that will select and submit projects to the NPS’ national competition.

The Outdoor Recreation Legacy Partnership (ORLP) program was established in 2014 and is funded through the Land and Water Conservation Fund. ORLP is a nationally competitive, dollar-for-dollar matching grant program. It was created to aid disadvantaged, urban communities that lack access to close-by outdoor recreation. Funds can be used for the acquisition and/or development of, or substantial renovation of, public parks and other outdoor recreation spaces.

Entities interested in seeking funding under the ORLP program should contact their State’s Lead Agency (Department of Energy and Environmental Protection for Connecticut; Office of Parks, Recreation, and Historic Preservation for New York) to get details about their state’s process for selecting and submitting projects to the NPS’ national competition.
