This event was held as part of a series to celebrate Long Island Sound Coastal Resilience Month.

City Island Oyster Reef Coastal Resilience Tour

On October 28th, 21 participants joined City Island Oyster Reef to tour their restoration sites in the Long Island Sound and learn about their resilience efforts on City Island. The group began with a walking tour of City Island Oyster Reef’s living shoreline behind Ambrosini Fields, followed by a boat tour around City Island to view the site of their first oyster reef, and presentations from Board members and CUNY and SUNY Maritime partners on research and community engagement projects.

This event was hosted in partnership with City Island Oyster Reef, and was part of a series offered by the Sustainable & Resilient Communities team throughout September and October to showcase resilience initiatives across the region, foster knowledge exchange, and encourage collaboration.
